In 2017-18, we’ll answer the question “What is Rotary?” with RI President-elect Ian H.S. Riseley’s theme, Rotary: Making a Difference. “Whether we’re building a new playground or a new school, improving medical care or sanitation, training conflict mediators or midwives, we know that the work we do will change people’s lives — in ways large and small — for the better.”

Change of venue announced for the Rescue Helicopter Cocktail Party March 15 2016

Due to unprecedented demand for tickets to this year’s Cocktail Party in aid of the Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust, the Hastings Karamu Rotary Club is delighted to announce a change of venue.

Now in its 25th year, this special anniversary Cocktail Party was due to take place at the Graeme Lowe Rescue Helicopter Hangar on Orchard Road on Friday 15th April, but will now take place at the A&P Showgrounds Exhibition Hall on the same date.

John Roil, Director of Community Service at the Hastings Karamu Rotary Club said, “This year, there has been a huge demand for tickets in advance of the event, which has meant that we have had to consider an alternative venue for the evening”

Ian Wilmot, General Manager at the Trust said “Because of the higher than expected number of guests for this year’s Cocktail Party, it quickly became apparent that we couldn’t keep to the original plan of hosting the event at the hangar, and continue to keep our Rescue Helicopter services operational throughout the event”

Mr Roil added, “This is a great position for us to be in, as the more people who attend the event, the more vital funds will be raised to support our local life-saving Rescue Helicopter Service”

The Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter provides a dedicated service in the Hawke’s Bay region, and completes over 300 lifesaving missions each year, helping those who need urgent medical care and transportation. Every dollar raised from Cocktail Party will go towards helping to keep the Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter operational, free of charge at point of use, and available 24/7 to everyone in Hawke’s Bay.

Tickets to the Cocktail Party cost just $95, and this is promising to be the best year yet as the event showcases 25 years of entertainment and support for the community.

To buy your tickets for the 25th Annual Cocktail Party, simply visit or call into ticket outlets at Thomsons Suits Hastings, Grieve Diamond Jewellers Hastings, Advintage Havelock North, House of Travel Havelock North, or Unichem Pharmacy Waipukurau.
